The Longest Night Service of Candles

December 12, 2013

Sunday, December 22, starting at 4:00pm, Atonement Lutheran Church will be hosting “The Longest Night Service of Candles” honoring grief, loss and sadness during the holiday season. For many who have lost a loved one, faced particular hardship, suffered a medical relapse or diagnosis of depression or other illness, the cultural expectations around a holiday of cheer can be overwhelming. This service of quiet song, reading, prayer and the lighting of candles will invite participants into a deeper awareness, acceptance and honoring of their experience in a worship setting.
